Isabelle is a Singapore artist. A judge, art writer
and part time art instructor. After having moved
around South East Asia for two decades, currently
she lives and paints full time in Hong Kong.
Primarily a self-taught in drawing and painting, she enrolled
her art education through Open College of the Art, a Fine
Art Correspondence institution based in United Kingdom
under the tutelage of Edward Phelps. She received the
Residency Fellowship at Vermont Studio Center, U.S.A.
in 2001 & 2008 and attended other intensive courses and
workshop in U.K., France, Australia and Indonesia.
The diverse subjects she chooses to paint are based largely on
Asian art, culture and the simplistic environment. She believes
painting is all about colors and that is what Asian cultures
speak. The Asian folk subjects have driven her to develop a
few painting series. The tiny shoes are delicately rendered in
the series titled ‘Journey’. The recent paintings are series of
«Hong Kong Residents» - gold fish in plastic bags, «Sunny
Side Up» - Bicycles, the Hong Kong ceramic wares and the
«Village Boys» series that depicting colorful and lively Koi
fish from her Hong Kong village home environment.
